Rare Art Nouveau sterling silver inkstand. Made by Georg Jensen in Copenhagen. Fluted columnar drum with raised and hinged cover. Cover top has large bud finial with 4 beaded and scrolled mounts set in pebble-beaded border. Mounted to oval tray with end handles comprising scallop shell with beaded scroll tail between volute scrolls, and grape bunch mounts. An exuberant and showy design with a mélange of key motifs. Pair of European silver figural scissors, ca 1910. A stork with legs mounted to ring handles of which one, in turn, mounted to turtle. Open, the handles reveal a newborn in the body interior. Elongated bill forms the blades, which were used, according to tradition, to assist in childbirth. Marked. Very good condition. Sterilization required.
