George V sterling silver epergne. Made by Williams in Birmingham in 1910. Slender oval shaft on large and stepped same foot. Shaft terminates in basket set in solid oval mount. Mounted to shaft are four scrolled arms each terminating in basket set in oval ring mounted to 4 scrolled supports. Baskets oval with solid well and scrolled rim interspersed with scallop shells. Rim wide and turned down with chased vegetation with serrated leaves, and chased and applied flowers (lily of the valley) that spillover the scrolled rim. More lily of the valley (chased) on bowl exterior. Foot has chased meandering tendrils. Flat and tapering fan handles with volute scroll mounts and raised blossoming branches. Foot has fretwork border with same as well as cranes and leaves. Rarefied exoticism. Fully marked including pre-1875 pattern no. 3501 and director’s letter M (1873-91). Fine condition.

Tapering shoulder engraved with scrolling leaf border. Open scrollwork side handles inset with cast medallion heads. One is a mustachioed man in plumed hat; the other a lady with noble visage. An unusual example of this popular and varied pattern. Marked “Sterling”. Very good condition.
