Edwardian Art Nouveau sterling silver box. Made by Levi & Salaman in Birmingham in 1904. Round and wavy form with straight sides and overhanging hinged cover. On cover top in voluptuous relief is scene of daisy divination inspired by Goethe’s Faust when Marguerite plucks off the petals, saying “He loves me, he loves me not.” Here Marguerite is a bare-shouldered nymph with flowing tresses and a heap of daisies to fall back on is she’s not happy with her first result. Wavy rim with tooled flowers, leaves, and scrolls; large stem flowers applied at ends. Pierced and open scrolled foot ring. Fully marked. Excellent condition.

German silver cow creamer, ca 1910. A bountiful Bessie with low-slung body on slender legs and round hooves. Flicked-back tail handle and hinged back cover with fly finial and tooled naïve border. Funny flexed ears and gaping mouth spout. German marks and post-1904 English sterling import marks including Chester assay stamp and Berthold Hermann Muller stamp. Muller imported Continental silver to England beginning in the late 19th century. Very good condition.
