Aesthetic sterling silver novelty napkin ring. Made by Whiting in New York, ca 1870. Conical bud vase mounted to ring, in turn, mounted to spread bell bowl with clapper. Ring has engine-turned lines and is encircled with ivy vine, which in turn wraps around the vase. Script monogram and year 1871 engraved on bowl. The perfect hostess gift that allows the lady of the house to summon the butler with a discreet shake of the wrist. Fully marked and numbered 102. Very good condition.
