A traditional form enlivened by the figure of an octopus squatting in the center, its curled and tangled legs draped over the bowls. Victorian sterling silver serving knife with agate handle. Made by George R. Unite in Birmingham in 1851. Blade flat and scrolled with pierced and engraved scroll and flower ornament. Mottled red agate handle with sterling silver fleur de lys terminal. A piece of the fancy that makes any occasion special. With leather-bound case. Fully marked. Knife in very good condition. Case worn with broken hinge.
