George III sterling silver covered urn. Made by William Frisbee in London in 1805. Ovoid with half fluting and split-leaf mounted scroll-bracket side handles. Short spool support and stepped foot. Domed-spool cover with cast figure of mounted jockey. Engraved garlands and floral bands. Classical ornament including beading, gadrooning, and leaf and dart. Gilt-washed interior. Fully marked. Very good condition with nicely “sunk” engraving.

Rectangular window in same surround with arched top comprising pierced and dense blossoming prunus branches with scrolled branches at base and 3 rondels inset with Chinese characters at top. With glass, silk lining, and hinged bamboo-style support. Marks include maker’s stamp for Wang Hing, who was active in Hong Kong in the late 19th and early 20th century. Very good condition.
