Evocative of seventeenth-century elegance. The fork has splayed tines. The slice has scalloped blade. Tactile with good balance. A nice pair in this pattern, which was first produced in 1892. Edwardian sterling silver and enamel inkwell. Made by Grinsell & Sons in London in 1906. Dome base with reeded foot and rim and hinged cover. On cover top is inset enamel plaque: a cat sits on its haunches, front legs stiffened, ears erect, and gaze intense. Wonderful details include the shaded striping and fluffy chest fur.
