Wonderful sterling silver & mixed metal bowl. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1882. Round with tapering sides and allover hand hammering visible on interior and exterior. Fruiting branch with overhanging cherries applied to one side. On other a dog (golden retriever) stands on granulated soil while watching birds in flight. There is also a good size butterfly. Interior richly gilt. Hallmark includes date letter, no. 1845, and phrase Sterling / other metals. Excellent condition.

Mixed metal and sterling silver landscape salver. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1881. Square with gently tapering sides and crimped corners with pierced volute scroll supports. Engraved landscape with trees, hills, and stone bridge. In foreground are applied pheasant and bush on granulated ground. Soaring above are two birds (also applied). Mixed metal and sterling silver bowl. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1880. Curved sides, molded rim, and foot rim. On exterior are applied plants, including lily pads and cattails, as well as a solitary Japanese fisherman who has hooked a fish. More fish “swimming” in the interior along with a couple lily pads. Matte finish. Hallmark includes no. 385 and date letter. Nice condition and patina.

Japonesque iron teapot with sterling silver mounts. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1883. A rare experimental piece. Japanese form with cover and twisted swing handle. Iron surface is granulated with nuanced patina. Mounts are bird, blossoming prunus branch, and insect. Interior appears to be tinned. Hallmark includes date letter, no. W19, and words “sterling” and iron”. Good condition. Interior has minor rusting.

Japonesque sterling silver vase. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1876. Amphora with tapering sides, stepped foot, flared rim, and vertical side handles terminating in volute scrolls. Fish and marine plants engraved on body. Arms have stylized Modern Victorian ornament. A wonderful application of avant-garde design to a Classical form.
