Enamel Silver: Boxes

French 18k yellow gold snuffbox, 19th century. Rectangular with chamfered corners. Cover flat and hinged with black and gold enamel rondel depicting Classical huntress on engine-turned ground with concentric circles. Bottom also has engine-turned concentric circles. Sides and corners have engine-turned lines set in wavy and cabled frames. Worn marks. Condition: Minor side pings.

Box and cover interior wood-lined. A smart and modern Grand Tour souvenir. Fully marked with Bulgari stamp and second stamp (post-1967) for Florentine maker Guerrazzi Fiorenzo. Numbered 5184. Nautical sterling silver and enamel cigarette case. Made by Thomae in Attleboro, Mass., ca 1960. Rectangular and hinged. Signal flags enameled on front. Gilt interior. Hallmarked. Very good condition with intact color.

Antique silver gilt and enamel compact with cats in a basket. Round with flat and hinged cover. On cover two kittens cuddle in beribboned basket. They have pink noses, whiskers, and lots of soft fur. They're real fluff balls. Color heightened by unusual black ground bordered by incised silver gilt ornament. Box sides white enamel between silver gilt borders. Cover interior has mirror. Unmarked – possibly Austrian. Excellent condition.

Cigarette case in 900 silver with enameled Classical scene. Made by FM in Austria, ca. 1900. Rectangular with side hinge. Unusual tableau on cover: a portico with figures in Classical and 19th-century court dress, a modern city in the background. Interior lightly gilt. Hallmarked. Excellent condition with nice patina and strong colors.
