George VI sterling silver coffee and tea set. Made by Edward Viner in Sheffield in 1939-40. This set comprises coffeepot, teapot, creamer, sugar, and tray.

Each: Faceting, high looping handles, and inset foot. Spouts v-form and covers hinged and flush. Rim has wraparound lines and pendant skyscraper motif. American Midcentury Modern sterling silver box. Rectangular with straight sides. Cover hinged and gently curved. Box interior cedar lined. Cover interior gilt washed. Fully marked with no. 5 and maker’s stamp for Smith & Smith, who were active in North Attleboro, Massachusetts in the mid-twentieth century. They were taken over by Wallace in 1958. Very good condition.
