Acid-etched repeating pattern with swags and paterae and armorial shield frames (all vacant). Stylized leaves at base. A beautiful showpiece that works in traditional and Modern interiors. Rare and experimental iron sake pot with sterling silver mounts. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1883. Globular with cover. Tapering ebonized wood side handle has silver mount. Straight and stubby spout also silver. Exterior is granulated with nuanced patina and two applied crabs. Interior appears to be tinned. Hallmark includes date letter, no. W22, and words “sterling” and “iron”. Good condition. Interior has minor rusting.
