Fancy Regent sterling silver asparagus fork. Made by Durgin in Concord, New Hampshire. Scrolled and pierced handle with engraved flowers and scallop shell terminal. Flat shank with concave sides, wide and blunt tines joined by pierced ovals, and same ornament. A beautiful early piece in this pattern, which was first produced in 1901. Fully marked including maker’s stamp and Gorham stamp. Gorham acquired Durgin in the early 20th century. Very good condition with nice patina.

Wonderful & witty sterling silver vase. Retailed by Cartier in New York. Curved and ovoid body with narrow wavy mouth. Double-sided fishbowl with fish gliding and diving amidst sea plants and conch shells. In relief with finely delineated details that include fins and scales as well as textured (that is, hand-hammered) sandy terrain. The swaying sea grasses shade into engraving.
