Greek Revival sterling silver gravy boat. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1855. Elongated bowl with helmet mouth, split high-looping handle with leaf mount, short stem, and raised oval foot. Rims have fretwork borders. Mouth rim also has beading. Restrained Classical design from the early years. Hallmark includes pattern no. 686 (first produced before 1860) and director’s letter m (ca 1854-69). Very good condition and patina.

Curved handle terminating in oval medallion applied with centurion’s head on engraved linear ground. A great piece by a regional maker in the fashionable classical motif. The stylized flower and leaf mounts are forward-looking touches. Ovoid bowl is gilt.

Hallmarked Bailey & Co. (1846-78). Very good condition with rich patina.
