Unusual sterling silver salt and pepper shakers. Made by Buccellati in Milan. Two flowers (one gilt) set in stand. Each flower has a curvilinear stem, round bud with threaded double-leaf cover (bottom leaf pierced). Stand has two holders in form of wrapped leaves rooted in earthen ground. An original design by the noted Italian maker. Hallmark (1968 to present). Very good condition.

Rests on 4 foliate-scroll mounted paws. Substantial and sumptuous in a rich yellow. Hallmarks include pattern no. 7991 (first produced in 1884) and director’s letter M (1873-91).
