American sterling silver soup ladle, ca 1878. Tapering handle and shaped ovalish bowl. Stylized ornament. Arched terminal with chased cherub perched on scrolling tendrils, and oval frame (vacant). Bowl has engraved flowers, leaves, and scrolls. A charming piece in the advanced aesthetic taste. Indistinct maker’s mark - possibly New York maker Wood & Hughes, which had a line of stylish flatware. Hallmark includes patent date 1878. Very good condition.

Antique sterling silver slotted spoon in Luxembourg pattern. Made by Gorham in Providence. Large ovoid bowl with pierced ornament and scrolls applied to rim. A nice piece in one of the many patterns based on 18th-century prototypes that Gorham began producing in the 1890s. This pattern first produced in 1893. Hallmarked. Nice condition and patina.
