Turn-of-the-century American Art Nouveau bottle decanter. Clear glass ovoid with tall cylindrical neck and ruffled rim. Ovoid stopper with short plug. Engraved silver overlay with loose flower heads surrounded by trellis; joined and elongated figure eights bisected with fleurs de lys at base. Interlaced script monogram engraved on neck collar. On front a pair of nude wrestlers heave and grapple. A fine exhibition of male brawn, probably inspired by Classical sculpture, such as the celebrated Roman marble group on view at the Uffizi in Florence. On back a scrolled, interlaced, and flower-strewn monogram.
