Beautiful antique sterling silver and crystal wine decanter. Made by Walter and Charles Sissons in Sheffield in 1867. Cylindrical neck and squat and curved bottom. Acid etched trellis with fruiting grapevine. Silver collar, v-spout, hinged cover, and leaf-capped scroll handle. Raised strapwork and grape bunches. Expressive Bacchus head on spout. Hallmarked. Very good condition and definition.

On cover top is inset enamel plaque: a cat sits on its haunches, front legs stiffened, ears erect, and gaze intense. Wonderful details include the shaded striping and fluffy chest fur.
