English Silver

Victorian sterling silver scent bottle, 1889. Ovoid with short neck and threaded ball cover. Allover repousse with flowers and scrolls. A peacock on one side, a dove on the other. Pretty and portable. Worn marks including London assay stamp. Very good condition.

Edwardian sterling silver salver. Made by Charles Stuart Harris & Sons in London in 1908. Round with solid well. Tapering and pierced shoulder with applied swags, vases, and laurel-wreathed heads. Rim has applied Vitruvian scrollwork. Four supports same. A pretty piece in fashionable Regency Revival. Fully marked. Very good condition.

Edwardian glass rouge pot with sterling silver cover. Made by William Neale in Chester in 1901. Pot clear and round with straight and faceted sides. Cover flat with inlaid ribbon-bedecked oil lamp, and sterling silver sides. Fully marked. Very good condition.

Nostalgic glass vanity jar with enameled sterling silver cover. Made in London in 1934. Oval jar with straight and fluted sides. Cover has motoring scene: A Victorian lady and two gentlemen tootle along in a turn-of-the-century automobile. A sweet look back. Hallmark includes George V’s silver jubilee mark. Indistinct maker’s mark – possibly Thomas Dalton Pannett & Son, Ltd. Fine condition with strong color.

George V sterling silver vase. Made by Alexander Clark in Birmingham in 1923. Straight and faceted sides, small knop, and raised foot. Molded and scalloped rim with curved and pierced sides. Weighted. Fully marked. Very good condition.

Edwardian stoneware match strike with sterling silver collar. Made by Royal Doulton in Lambeth in 1909. Globular with cylindrical interior and silver collar. Applied ornaments include windmill, pipe-smoking peasant, and running dogs. Shaded brown and cream glaze. A homely piece in the Dutch style. Fully marked on underside and collar. Excellent condition.

George V sterling silver and pink guilloche enamel vanity set. Made by Charles S. Green & Co., Ltd in Birmingham in 1927-8. This set comprises 4 pieces: Hand mirror, hairbrush, clothes brush, and button hook. Mirror and hairbrush have armorial backs and tapering and fluted silver handles with vasiform finials. Button hook handle tapering. Clothes brush tubular. Enamel has wavy and radiating pattern with leafing scroll borders and pendant garlands.
