Pair of gilt 950 silver 2-light candelabra with carved jade shaft. Made by Cartier in France, ca 1930. Each: Carp shaft in carved jade mounted to stepped and beaded oval base. Set in gaping fish mouth are two leaf-wrapped arms each terminating in single bellied urn socket with leaf-and-dart ornament, detachable bobeche, and beaded wax pan. Stylish Modern Classicism with Japanese influence. Fully marked with French 950 hallmark and maker's stamp. Excellent condition.

Column encircled with winding scaly snake. On base silver mounts including paterae and scrolls as well as dolphins. Unmarked. Condition: Some shrinkage, splits, and discoloration. Uneven sunning with one candlestick noticeably more faded.
