Oval well engraved with bold Regency ornament: Ribbon-tied oval frames joined by garlands in Vitruvian scroll border. Sides plain with gallery piercing and reeded rim. Cutout kidney end handles. Rests on four tapering and scrolled supports. Fully marked. Fine condition.

Chased ornament in form of medallions inset with children’s heads punching through broken eggshell. Provocative metaphor between modish borders: At top alternating flower heads and ribbing; at bottom alternating sunflower heads and teacups. Fully marked including no. 3765 and date letter. Open scrollwork side handles inset with cast medallion heads. One is a mustachioed man in plumed hat; the other a lady with noble visage. An unusual example of this popular and varied pattern.
