Early sterling silver compote with hunt theme. Made by James Bogert for Tiffany & Co. at 550 Broadway in New York, ca 1865. Curved bowl and raised foot with studded ring knop. Low-relief fretwork borders on bowl rim and foot. Cast side handles in form of deer’s heads – majestic bucks with rugged coats and massive antlers. Perfect for the sportsman. Fully marked including maker’s and retailer’s stamps, and nos. 2244 and 18. Excellent condition with nice patina.
