Exciting Art Deco sterling silver and pink gold desk box. Made by Charles & Richard Comyns in London in 1925. Rectangular with flat hinged cover and angular corners. Box and cover sides paneled with alternating horizontal bands in plain gold and engine-turned silver. Box and cover interior wood lined. Cover interior has vacant plaque. Box underside lined with black leather. Hallmarked. Excellent condition.

Large sterling silver desk box. Made by Pampaloni in Florence, Italy for Tiffany & Co. in New York. Rectangular with straight sides, reeded base, and flat hinged cover with tab. Applied to cover are two gilt straps with notches and buckle. Suggestive of safekeeping as well as a witty take on the strapwork motif. Box and cover interior lined with stained wood. Italian hallmark 176 FI (1968 to present) and retailer’s name. Excellent condition.

George V sterling silver and enamel match safe. Made in Birmingham in 1912. Rectilinear with curved corners, hinged cover, and strike. Engraved scrollwork and enamel medallion with head of English spaniel on misty violet ground. Hallmarked. Condition: minor dents, major loss to interior rim, and cover closes askew. A sweet breed specific piece nonetheless.

Engine-turned wave patterns alternating with plain stripes. Scrolled cartouche engraved with script presentation. Hallmark includes indistinct maker’s mark (possibly EM). Very good condition.

Antique silver and enamel wrist compact. Ovoid with hinged cover. On cover is enameled feline group: kitties have stiff forelegs, fat paws, adorable pink noses, and lots of soft fur. Expressions range from intense to contemplative. Compact interior has hinged powder compartment and mirror. Tapering silver handle and wrist chain. A great piece for a cat lover. Unmarked – possibly Austrian.

European gilt 935 silver compact, ca. 1920. Double-sided feline motif. On front kitty assumes a formal pose with direct stare, stiff forelegs, and erect ears. One ear exceeds the frame as does the wrap-around tail tip. The eyes and collar are “jeweled.” The same pose from behind is on the back, including collar. Interior has two hinged compartments. Hallmarked. Excellent condition with mellowed gilding.
