Turn-of-the-century German 800 silver tzedakah (Jewish charity box). Cylindrical with lobed and bellied bottom and mortise tenon-style bracket handle. Cover hinged and domed with hasp; top has wide slit with loose rings mounted to interior to prevent coins from falling out. Fruiting grapevine chased on body. German marks, Viennese retailer’s stamp (V. Mayer's Söhne), and no. 11725. Very good condition.
