Large hand-hammered silver amphora vase. Made by Corradini in Bologna. Traditional form with alternating wide and narrow lobes on body and foot. Faceted neck with scalloped rim. Leaf-mounted volute scroll side handles and corner supports. Bold classicism with a nice shimmer. Italian and English-style marks. Very good condition.

Early sterling silver Japonesque vase. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Four straight and upward tapering sides and splayed block corner supports. Engraved bamboo, cranes, blossoming prunus branch, and kimono-clad figure holding fan and fish. Tooled ornamental bands at top and bottom. Butler finish. A wonderful period piece that embodies modish exoticism. Union Square hallmark (1870-1875) includes pattern no. 2978. Fine patina and definition.

Mixed metal and silver vase. Made by La Pierre (part of International) in Newark, ca 1890. Baluster with turned-down and ruffled rim and stepped foot. Body is copper with silver foot and mount including rim. Applied silver branch and leaves with copper cherries. Hallmark includes phrase “Silver & Copper”. Good condition with nice patina. A few dings to copper body – but nothing to detract from the overall attractiveness.

Fish and marine plants engraved on body. Arms have stylized Modern Victorian ornament. A wonderful application of avant-garde design to a Classical form.

Hallmark includes date letter. Condition: a few firescale spots, which do not detract from overall beauty.

Alternating stripes and lattice, and oval frames acid-etched with flower baskets. Fish scale bottom, faceted knop, and lobed neck. Mouth rim has cut geometric ornament and acid-etched garland. Vase mounted to stepped silver foot. Base hallmarked “Hawkes sterling 155 PWTS.” Excellent condition.
