Olympian sterling silver water pitcher. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Globular with drum-form neck, small lip spout, and leaf-mounted scroll bracket handle. Exterior encircled with chased and embossed frieze of love-making and harp-strumming nymphs, gods, and cherubs. A suggestive pastoral scene set in foliate rinceaux. Second narrow and ornamental rinceaux band on neck. An early piece in the celebrated Beaux-Arts pattern that was conceived by French designer F. Antoine Heller and debuted at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1878. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 5066, and director’s letter T (1892-1902). Very good condition.
