Art Nouveau Craftsman glazed jug decanter with engraved silver overlay. Made by Rookwood Pottery in Cincinnati in 1896. Wide ovoid body with short neck and ring handle in silver collar. Shaped stopper with cork plug. Corn cob with peeled-back husk on shaded brown ground. Overlay scrollwork and grape-bunches spilling out of overturned barrel. A rarified vessel for passing round grandpa's home-stilled bourbon.

Fruiting grapevine with overlapping leaves in the greenery-yallery palette and blue bunches. Overlay engraved and gilt with dense leafing scrollwork and asymmetrical cartouche engraved with interlaced script monogram. Mouth and handle in silver gilt collars.
