Silver Overlay

Turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau glass claret jug with engraved silver overlay. Upward tapering cylindering with spread bottom and c-scroll silver handle. Overlay in form of scrolling and entwined grapevine with bunches and outsized leaves. Asymmetrical cartouche engraved with 3-letter script monogram and date “Dec. 21-1911”. Glass is green. Silver marked “Sterling”. Excellent condition.

Turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau glass perfume with engraved silver overlay. Made by Gorham in Providence. Curved conical body with short upward tapering neck and everted rim in silver collar. Flat and round stopper. Overlay pattern comprising fluid and scrolled tendril frames of which 4 inset with trefoils. Stopper top has round frame engraved with interlaced script monogram. Glass is green. Silver marked including maker’s stamp and no. D953. Very good condition.

Bellied bowl with upward tapering neck, helmet mouth in silver collar and high looping handle in same. Ball stopper. Overlay in form of fruiting grapevine. Asymmetrical scrolled cartouche engraved with interlaced script monogram. Silver marked “Sterling” with maker’s stamp. Excellent condition.

Turn-of-the-century American Art Nouveau glass jug decanter with engraved silver overlay. Drum form with curved shoulder. Neck and trefoil mouth in silver collar as is bracket handle. Flat-topped stopper same. Entwined and scrolling tendrils with bit buds and blooms, including splayed flowerheads with tentacular stamen. Scrolled cartouche with interlaced script monogram. Glass is red. Stopper plug is clear. Worn marks. Excellent condition.

Turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau glass vase with engraved silver overlay. Baluster top and conical base. Vertical overlay with scrolling tendrils and sunflower girdle of which one vacant. Turn-of-the-century American Art Nouveau glass trumpet vase with engraved silver overlay. Cone on round and raised foot. Overlay in form of leafing and flowering entwined and meandering scrollwork. Scrolled ovalish cartouche (vacant). Glass cased with red exterior and white interior. Marked “Sterling” with faint maker’s mark. Very good condition with deep patina.

Bold and dynamic Overlay in form of iris flowers with entwined and scrolling tendrils. Glass is red. Silver marked with maker’s stamp and no. R3486. Excellent condition with deep patina.

Art Nouveau Craftsman glazed jug decanter with engraved silver overlay. Made by Rookwood Pottery in Cincinnati in 1896. Wide ovoid body with short neck and ring handle in silver collar. Shaped stopper with cork plug. Corn cob with peeled-back husk on shaded brown ground. Overlay scrollwork and grape-bunches spilling out of overturned barrel. A rarified vessel for passing round grandpa's home-stilled bourbon.
