Turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau sterling silver picture frame. Made by Unger Bros in Newark. Oval window set in rectangular surround. Surround front has acid etched flowers and pierced abstract ornament on stippled ground. A beautiful synthesis of lush floral ornament and Teutonic rectilinearity. With glass, silk lining, and velvet back and hinged support. Fully marked. Very good condition.

Japonesque mixed metal lamp base. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1882. Rectilinear copper body with bronze foo dog heads mounted to sides, and leaf-and-scroll corner mounts with bulgy talon supports. Domed inset top with low relief silver frieze depicting Classical goatherds, fishermen, and boatmen. Hardware for threading and adjusting wick. Marked “Gorham & Co. / E4 / O”. Very good condition with nice patina.
