Pair of Victorian sterling silver salt & pepper shakers. Made by Stokes & Ireland in Birmingham in 1889. Each: A pierced globe is supported by a chubby, contrapposto cherub with wispy drapery and bare bottom, who strains under the weight (of the world?). Sweet and sentimental Classicism with allegorical possibilities. Figure stands on stepped and round foot mounted to square base. Fully marked. Very good condition.

Turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau glass vase with engraved silver overlay. Cylindrical neck with flared rim and bellied bowl. Waterlily overlay with flowers and pads, with the rippling water indicated by nervous and edgy dashes, lines and circles. Glass is red. Marked "925 / 1000". Excellent condition.

Neoclassical 950 silver jardiniere. Made by Boin-Taburet in Paris, ca 1890. Oval with imbricated leaf-and-berry rim. Sides open interlaced arcade and pendant wreath-and-garland. Open bottom and plain base with rectilinear supports. Original silver-plated liner with loose-mounted end rings. Fully marked with maker’s stamp, Minerva head, and no. 35928. Excellent condition.

German 930 silver figural inkwell. Imported to England in 1896 by David Bridge in London. In form of Rococo settee with applied passementerie and monopodia supports. Seat cushion has Chinoiserie scene and is hinged. Interior has detachable pot and sand shaker, and well for wafer seals with hinged and flush cover. German marks including maker’s stamp (Simon Rosenau) and English import marks. Excellent condition.

George V sterling silver coffeepot. Made by S. Blanckensee & Sons Ltd in Birmingham in 1925. Faceted with conical body, leaf-capped s-scroll spout, and hinged and domed cover with vasiform finial. Regency-style gilt sterling silver centerpiece. Three caryatid bacchantes support an open basket with ivy shoulder. They stand on concave triangle set in same with satyr-head monopodia joined by garlands, and in turn mounted to plain and larger base on volute capital supports. A great “goddess” centerpiece with ethereal barefoot maids in chaste drapery that reflects the English discovery of Greek art in the early 19th century.
