Shaft has flutes alternating with graduated beading. Foot spread with irregular scrolled rim. Gorgeous. Looks best illuminated by flickering flames. Fully marked including maker’s stamp and year; also, Frank W. Smith stamps. Very good condition.

Victorian Rococo sterling silver dessert set. Made by Martin, Hall & Co., Ltd in Sheffield in 1859. This set comprises 18 knives and 18 forks. Textural handle with strapwork cartouche; terminal scrolled with engraved armorial in cabled oval. Blades and shanks have double-sided engraved leafy scrolls, fruits, and flowers. In stained-wood case with fitted velvet lining; case cover has brass plaque engraved with same armorial.
