Edwardian Georgian sterling silver cream pail. Made by Barnard & Sons, Ltd in London in 1903. Open wire sides applied with oak branches and asymmetrical cartouche engraved with armorial and Latin motto Spes Melioris Vitae (Hope of a Better Life). Open entwined swing handle with central flower head. Plain and spread foot. Cobalt glass liner. Very good condition.

Sterling silver socket with acanthus leaf ornament; detachable bobeche with scroll and imbricated leaf border. Raised sterling silver foot with leaf-and-dart ornament.
