Art Nouveau Craftsman glazed earthenware 3-handled cup with engraved silver overlay. Made by Rookwood Pottery in Cincinnati in 1897. Round with straight and upward tapering sides and 3 silver c-scroll handles. Orange blooms and buds with crisscrossing and snapped stems on shaded brown ground. Overlay in form of leafing scrollwork, flowers, and diaper.

The artist was Constance Amelia Baker, who worked at Rookwood from 1892 to 1904, where she specialized in dreamy, floaty flower designs. She also photographed ethnographic scenes. In 1896, a group of Sioux Indians were employed at the Cincinnati Zoo to exhibit native skills and customs. Baker was commissioned by Rookwood to make study photographs. Her painted work is in the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Morse Museum.

Marks include dated Rookwood stamp, artist’s signature, shape no. 330, and size D. Very good condition.
