Art Nouveau Craftsman glazed earthenware vase with engraved silver overlay. Made by Rookwood Pottery in Cincinnati in 1893. Amphora with ovoid body, upward tapering neck, and 2 c-scroll handles. Dynamic and interlaced leafing scrollwork and asymmetrical cartouche (vacant); guilloche border at mouth rim and scalloping at bottom. Reveal with green holly leaves and orange berries, and brown ground in a nuanced autumnal palette.

The painter was Elizabeth Neave Lincoln (1867-1957). She studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and worked at Rookwood from 1892-1931. Her work is in the collections of the Miami University Art Museum and Morse Museum.

Fully marked including dated maker’s stamp, artist’s stamp, shape code 533E, and glaze letter W. Excellent condition.
