Classical coin silver serving tongs. Made by William Gale & Son in New York. U-form with traditional English double-scroll terminal on each side and scalloped shanks. One side has shaped blade with open rectangles; the other side has 3 tines. Monogram engraved on handle. A fine piece by a historic maker, that underwent many changes in partnerships and names. It was active in this incarnation in the 1850s. Marked. Very good condition. Taut and springy.
