Adams-style sterling silver centerpiece bowl on plateau. Made by Black, Starr & Frost in New York, ca 1890.

Bowl: Curved and steeply tapering with turned-down rim and domed foot. Plateau: Octagonal and domed on corner bracket supports. Curvilinear frames and Adams-style ornament in form of garlands, beribboned wreaths, scallop shells, and volute pilasters. Bowl has loose-mounted wreath rings. A sumptuous adaptation of late 18th-century design.

Hallmarks include no. 53/7779 and phrase Exclusive Design. Excellent condition.
