On front is engraved “Gibson Island / Poplar Island / 1953 / Racing Division / First / Hurrying Angel”. Above is applied enamel burgee for the Gibson Island Club in Chesapeake Bay, which sponsored the Poplar Island race. Hurrying Angel was an 8-meter keel sloop that was built in Scotland in 1935.
