Art Nouveau sterling silver and glass inkwell. Made by William B. Kerr in Newark, ca 1890. Clear rectilinear block body with diaper ornament cut to underside. Well has four curved sides and curved bottom. Short neck in sterling silver collar as is hinged and girdled cover. Concave shoulder with corner mounts comprising Classical goddess heads with crown and flowing tresses. Haunting and rarified desk companions. Fully marked and numbered 886. Very good condition.

Sides exterior have cabochon malachite medallions alternating with plain silver ones. Bowl center has open ball-topped baluster. Bowl rests on four tapering columns with round solid base. Chased fluid leafy scrollwork, as well as leaf-and-dart border on base. An exuberant show-stopper. Fully marked. Very good condition.

Edwardian Sterling silver baby cup. Made by Gorham in Providence, ca 1910 Gently upwards tapering sides, scrolled bracket handle, and flat rim. Gilt-washed interior. Two acid-etched frames with little girls from around the world (each in national costume) giving thanks at table. A third frame, bordered by potted rose bushes, is vacant. Below is phrase: “It is very nice to think the world is full of meat and drink / with little children saying grace in every Christian kind of place”.
