George IV glass soap box with sterling silver cover. Made by John & Archibald Douglas in London in 1823. Clear and rectangular with straight sides. Cover flat with reeded rim; top has rectangular frame with central circular frame (vacant) surrounded by pierced and engraved scroll pattern. A nice memento from a more hygiene nonchalant era. Marked cover underside. Very good condition with deep patina.
