Dating back to the 19th century, antique American coin silver is distinct from sterling silver and is a unique find. This style of silver antique is composed of ninety percent silver and ten percent copper -- which is a similar composition of the American coin at the time, which explains where it got its name.
Notably, most pieces of antique coin silver have stamped markings, often consisting of manufacturer's marks, assay marks, or silver content marks. These markings serve as valuable historical references, providing insights into the origins and authenticity of these remarkable artifacts.
At Nelson and Nelson Antiques, we take pride in our collection of antique coin silver and the quality of each piece we offer. Whether you're starting your collection or looking to add a new centerpiece to your home, we invite you to browse our website for your ideal piece.
