Chinese Silver

Turn-of-the-century Chinese silver mustard pot. Round and bellied bowl with plain concave neck, thin scroll handle, and spread foot. Modish floral ornament in form of chased and applied water lilies and pads heightened with engraving on stippled ground. Chinese marks. Very good condition.

Siamese silver inkwell, ca 1920. Cubic with cross-legged yogi and dancing contortionists in mandala frames. Cover hinged with tooled and repousse scrolls and flowers. Unmarked. Very good condition with deep patina.

Turn-of-the-century Chinese hardstone koro. Bellied bowl on sturdy leg-and-paw supports. Carved foo dog side mounts with loose-mounted rings. Short neck collar and raised and reeded cover are 800 silver. Cover has German marks. Very good condition.

Large turn-of-the-century Chinese export silver serving fork. Made by Cumwo in Hong Kong. Shaped 4-tine shank engraved with trees and pagoda. Handle flat and shaped with chased slinking, serpentine dragon on front and back. Front has circular frame (vacant). Marked. Very good condition.

Chinese export silver picture frame. Rectangular window in same surround with arched top comprising pierced and dense blossoming prunus branches with scrolled branches at base and 3 rondels inset with Chinese characters at top. With glass, silk lining, and hinged bamboo-style support. Marks include maker’s stamp for Wang Hing, who was active in Hong Kong in the late 19th and early 20th century. Very good condition.

Set of 4 Southeast Asian export silver compotes, ca 1920. Each: Shallow bowl with pierced and chased birds and flowers. Enameled rim with raised scallops interspersed with berries and leaves. Support has ribbed knop. Foot raised with applied foliate medallions with polychrome enamel. Foot rim encircled with animals scurrying along leafing branch (also applied). Striking and unusual. Hallmarked. Very good condition.

Indian Colonial silver beer barrel mug. Made by Allan & Hayes in Calcutta, ca 1860. Incised staves and chased hoops entwined with fluid grain stalks forming asymmetrical cartouche (vacant). Bracket handle. Gilt interior. Maker’s stamp underside. Condition: Very good with deep patina.
