Embossed ornament with cherubs feeding grapes to lions. The figures emerge from center of rinceaux scrolls. Fantasy mix of classicism and heraldry. Fully marked. Good condition with deep patina.

Twelve Edwardian Bread & Butter plates. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1916. Each: Plain circular well and four curved sides with double-scroll corners. Chased and engraved ornament: Fluid leaf set in scrolling-leaf frame alternating with quatrefoil leaf over stippled lunettes. Rosette-inset guilloche rim. Engraved armorial with Latin motto “Patriis virtutibus” (that is, “By hereditary virtues”). A suitably aristocratic sentiment for such a sumptuous set.
