| This beautifully crafted iridescent glass and silver overlay vase was made by the Loetz factory of Austria, circa 1900. The sterling silver overlay engraved floral motif is signed with the hallmark of Alvin Mfg. Co., Providence, RI and “patented 74 925/1000.” The vase itself is made of amber, yellow and blue iridescent glass and is etched with “14” on the underside of the base. It was not uncommon during the late 19th and early 20th centuries for silver manufacturing companies, such as Gorham and Alvin, to order art glass vases from Loetz of Austria and Quezal of the USA for application of sterling silver overlay designs. This is a very elegant and understated example of the art of Loetz and Alvin and is a true collectors dream. Height: 6 Inches. Condition: Excellent Estate Condition.
