| This magnificent pair of dishes by Tiffany & Co., New York, was made in the famous Tiffany English King pattern in 1892. The dishes are fully hallmarked under the base, with the Tiffany maker’s mark, sterling and sterling standard marks, pattern #11283 for 1892, order number and date letter “T” for pieces made between 1891 and 1895. During the late 19th century, Tiffany began manufacturing sterling silver holloware to coordinate with their flatware services. It was very popular at that time to outfit an entire dining room in platters, candelabras, candlesticks, service plates, serving bowls, centerpieces, candy dishes, vases, flatware and other items in coordinating patterns.
