Magnificent Gorham Sterling Pitcher Cherubs 1893

This magnificent sterling silver pitcher was made by the Gorham Mfg. Co. of Providence, RI in 1893. It is fully hallmarked with Gorham’s maker’s mark, style # 5128 and date mark for 1893. The pitcher is of majestic proportions and is finely cast, chased, repousse and engraved with a maskhead spout, and a mid-section with gryphon, putti and Bacchanalian scenes. The handle is cast and chased with floral, acanthus leaf and scroll motifs. The pitcher is raised on an acanthus leaf-capped spreading circular pedestal foot with egg and dart cast border. This pitcher, or wine ewer, is truly a sculptural work of art and would be a conversation piece for any room or collection. Height: 14 inches. Weight: 79 Troy Ounces.
