| This is one of the most magnificent 19th century American Sterling Silver Gilt Mounted Crystal Ewers produced. It is equal in quality to any comparable English or European piece made during the same time period. The ewer was made by the Wm. B. Durgin Co. of Providence, RI circa 1885. A realistically chased and engraved grapevine surround centering a Bacchanalian mask head frames the concave lobed inverted pear form crystal midsection. The silversmithing on this piece is of the highest quality. The chasing and original gilding highlight the glorious rendition of the art of the silversmith. This is truly a collector’s work of art and should be displayed in the home as such. Height: 20 1/2 inches. Condition: Excellent Estate Condition with original patina. Price: $45,000 Stock #BE403 |
