The piece is of shaped oval bombe form with chrysanthemum decorated rollover rim, four chrysanthemum capped bracket feet, two chrysanthemum capped handles, the detachable domed lid with chrysanthemum border and chrysanthemum capped handle. Length: 14 inches. Total Weight: 70 Troy Ounces. Condition: Excellent The last quarter of the 19th century was an era in the United States when many industrial fortunes were made. As a result of the period of great prosperity, many newly moneyed families found themselves building large castle-like estates and needed great quantities of furniture, paintings, works of art and silver to fill them. Tiffany was instrumental in developing lines of hollowware to coordinate with their superb quality flatware services. The Chrysanthemum flatware pattern was introduced in 1880 and many pieces of hollowware in that pattern were subsequently manufactured by Tiffany & Co. Thus, when a client was purchasing flatware, Tiffany could provide them with a full range of silver for not only the dining room, but the entire house, as well. Tiffany produced complete silver services in not only the Chrysanthemum pattern, but in the Audubon, Olympian, English King, Marquise, St Dunstan, Winthrop, Century, Wave Edge and Palmette patterns as well. This magnificent tureen would be a welcomed addition to any style of home today.   Price: $40,000   Stock #BE581
