| This pair of circular covered entrée dishes is one of the earlier pieces produced by Tiffany & Co. in the Chrysanthemum pattern. Tiffany began manufacturing the Chrysanthemum pattern in 1880. This pair of covered entrée dishes is stamped with the pattern #5714, indicating it was made in late 1879 or early 1880. Thus, it is apparent that Tiffany began production of hollowware items in the numerous patterns simultaneously with the introduction of new flatware patterns. These covered entrée dishes are fully marked with Tiffany’s hallmark and the date letter “M” for pieces made between 1878 and 1891. The pattern number indicates date of manufacture. These magnificent covered entrée dishes would be a welcomed addition to any collection.
The covered entrée dishes are of shaped lobed circular form, with chrysanthemum decorated rollover rim, two handles and four bracket form feet. The detachable domed cover is also decorated with a chrysanthemum border and oval ring handle. Length Overall: 11 ½ inches Total Weight: 126 Troy ounces. Condition: Excellent
