| This is a beautiful pietra dura brooch with Etruscan style goldwork executed in 18k gold. This oval brooch is comprised of a central oval pietra dura plaque with a large white iris and large red flower with a small red bud each with green stems and leaves against a black background. The color combinations are striking and are a rich complement to the gold setting. This plaque is surrounded with a wide gold frame accented with wirework scrolls with small balls and twisted wire borders in the Etruscan style. It has a hinged gold pin for securing the brooch, which measure approx. 1 3/4" long and approx. 1 3/8" wide. This gorgeous antique pietra dura brooch is a rare example of fine Italian jewelry design form the mid-nineteenth century.
