Antique 18k Gold Pietra Dura Earrings Italian C 1875

This is a beautiful pair of pietra dura earrings with Etruscan style goldwork executed in 18 karat gold. Each oval drop earring is comprised of a central oval pietra dura plaque with a large open white flower with a small red flower and red bud each with green stems and leaves against a black background. The color combinations are stunning and make a dramatic statement. This plaque is surrounded with a wide gold frame accented with wirework scrolls with small balls and delicate twisted wire borders in the Etruscan style. Each has a long, curved gold earwire. Each earring measures approx. 1 1/4” long and approx. 7/8” wide. This gorgeous pair of antique pietra dura earrings is a rare example of fine Italian jewelry design from the mid-nineteenth century. These beautiful earrings are an heirloom to be treasured and are a distinctive design for any jewelry lover.
