| This is a striking gilt bronze picture frame in an elegant and bold neoclassical style. The rectangular frame has a wide border trimmed with a twisted rope design on the outside and a delicate beaded border on the inside. The center is comprised of a shaped band with a matte background embellished with flowers, scrolls, and leaves at each corner, and is outlined with laurel garlands, leafy scrolls and beading that creates an architectural framework. The curves of this band reveal rich cobalt blue guilloche enameling that makes a striking contrast to the warm gold color. The top of the frame is surmounted with a magnificent leaf and flower swag tied in the center with a curling ribbon. The back of the frame has a loop for hanging and a hinged wire stand. The frame is in excellent condition with very fine and crisp decoration. The frame measures approx. 6 3/8" wide and approx. 9 1/4" high. The interior opening measures approx. 3 4/4" wide x 5 1/2" high. This is uniquely decorated antique frame in a timeless and noble design, whose rich color is particularly striking.
