| This is a fine gilt bronze picture frame executed in a refined neoclassical design and elegant oval shape. The border of the frame is comprised of a wide outer band with a matte background with decorations of fleur-de-lys and flower garlands at intervals framed with a twisted rope border. The inner band is comprised of rich red guilloche enamel framed with gadrooned borders and leaves at intervals. The top of the frame is accented with a magnificent shell and scroll design that elegantly furls around the frame. The back of the frame has a loop for hanging and a hinged wire stand. It is in excellent condition with very fine and crisp decoration, and is marked on the back with the word “France.” The frame measures approx. 7" wide and approx. 9 1/2" high. The interior opening measures approx. 5" high and 3 3/4" wide. This lovely antique frame would make a stunning backdrop for an important picture. A classic design that is both rich yet refined.
