| This is a beautiful pair of sterling silver three light candelabra by the American Arts and Crafts silversmith George Christian Gebelein in a handsome Colonial Revival design. Each stands stepped, square base with chamfered corners, supporting a baluster-shaped stem and U-shaped socket with banding. The socket supports the removable arms with three conforming sockets each with a removable wax-pan and collar that both repeated the square design of the base. The arms are elegantly curved forming scrolls, and while decoration is minimal the design is rich and pleasing. These candelabra are perfectly proportioned creating an elegant and timeless silhouette. Likewise, the removable arms easily convert the more elaborate candelabra into a more modest pair of candlesticks that are even more versatile. Each is excellent condition, and measures approx. 11” high, with bases approx. 4 1/2” square. Each is marked under the base with Gebelein’s maker’s mark, the words Sterling, Reproduction, Cement Filled, and pattern number 2553A. This beautiful pair three-light candelabra is a handsome example of Gebelein’s masterful work in reproducing early American silver by hand in the tradition of great silversmiths such as Paul Revere. They are a wonderful example of the rich style and quality of American silver. This handsome pair of antique silver candelabra would surely be treasured in any home. Price: $3,500.00 pr.
